Make Time for Yourself

One thing that we need to be intentional about is making time for ourselves. The problem is many of us don’t do it. The main reasons are:

*We believe that we are too busy and that there is no way that we can.

*We feel guilty about it. That it is selfish and that we should be putting that time into our work or helping others.

The reality though is that it is not selfish but rather it is a necessity. Making time for ourselves will make us happier and will allow us to serve on a much higher level. The energy that we give off when we are taking care of ourselves is completely different. We become more magnetic, relaxed and give off positive vibes to the people around us. We start living in alignment with our highest selves.

So how do you do it:

#1 Give yourself permission to have time to yourself

Accept that it is necessary and that you deserve it. Let go of any guilt and replace it with feelings of acceptance.

#2 Make it a priority

The truth is that we do have time, it just depends on how important it is to us. When we make this a top priority for us then we will be able to do it on a consistent basis.

#3 Schedule

By using scheduling you will be more efficient with the time that you do have. We all get the same amount of time in the day and it really comes down to how we use it. When scheduling block off time for yourself each day. This can be in the morning, afternoon or night.

#4 Set Boundaries

Communicate this to family members, friends and coworkers. Then stick to it. Put your phone on silent during this time and perform you self-care.

What does taking care of yourself look like? It depends on each person. It can be taking time to exercise, read a book, listen to music, go for a walk, meditate, journal, catch up with friends or any other hobby that you enjoy.
