*Build a relationship of trust and respect. When you show people that you care about them, they are far more likely to go the extra mile for you. This requires the interpersonal skills to build meaningful and healthy relationships.
*Give your employees a vision and purpose to strive for. People are motivated when they are working towards something bigger than themselves. To do this create a compelling vision with the opinions of others.
*Provide them with clear direction and responsibilities. Workers often slack off when they don’t have much work to do or don’t know what they should be doing.
*Appreciation!!! Let your employees know that you appreciate the work that they are doing! This is the number one way for retention as well. Thank them and let them know when they have done something well.
*Empower them. Give them the freedom and voice to make decisions within the company. This requires you to let go of some control and to trust your colleagues.
*Accountability. People may say that they don’t want to be held accountable but deep down they do. The also respect people far more when they know that they will hold them and others accountable.
