3-Step System for Motivation
How motivated have you been lately?
Take a few seconds to reflect on that question.
Motivation will vary from time to time. That doesn't mean that it is random though. And it is too important to leave it up to chance!
Motivation can be increased with intentional work and the right strategies. Here is a 3-step process to help you improve your drive today!
1. Reconnect with your purpose - People often lose motivation because they lose sight of their purpose. Reconnect to why you do the type of work that you do. What are your major reasons? Once you remember these then allow yourself to connect with them emotionally. Put these reasons somewhere that you will see them often.
2. Make a mindset shift - Our thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs will have a major effect on our motivation. So making a shift to them can have a positive influence. What is a shift that you can make today? Possibly to be more positive, optimistic, grateful, confident, or develop more of a growth mindset. Pick one shift and be intentional about having your thoughts and beliefs support it.
3. Develop a new habit - Just as your mindset affects your motivation so do your habits. For this, I recommend making a change to one of the Big 3. The Big 3 is physical activity, nutrition, and sleep. Making one positive change to this will increase your energy level and how you feel throughout the day. This will lead to an increase in motivation. If you feel good about where you are in these three areas then consider adding a new hobby to your weekly schedule.
