The Greatest Skill That I Have Learned
The best skill that I ever learned is how to meditate!
I first learned meditation when I was on a yoga retreat at Pure Flow in Thailand in July of 2015. In October of that same year, I went to India and worked with a teacher there. Over the last 6 years, I have taken courses, had different teachers, and have practiced consistently on my own.
Meditation is a journey of self-discovery. it is learning about your mind and how to work with it. It is connecting to your awareness and higher self. It is simply being.
I say that it is the greatest skill that I have learned because of the benefits that it has had on my life over the past six years. The first one is that it has helped me to be more relaxed in social situations. This has allowed me to be more authentic. The second is that it has helped me to be more present. This has had an impact on my happiness and how much I enjoy the different activities and moments throughout my day. The third one is that it has allowed me to get to know myself better, which has developed my self-esteem.
If you are looking to start a practice I recommend starting small and being consistent with it. You can start for 5 minutes each day and then gradually increase the time. You can use a guided meditation online or do your own. It can be helpful to have a teacher or mentor as well to answer your questions.
While meditation is not the central focus of the High-Performance Coaching that I do it is still a part of it. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about meditation, mindfulness, or high-performance.
